Homeowners:
Refinish or replace?
In addition to cost factors, consider:
* Can your floors be resanded?
* Do you have stains or defective boards?
* Do you want to match existing adjacent flooring?
* Is keeping the original character of the house important?
Your House
In choosing a new floor, consider:
* Room size
* Are your new floors part of a renovation or an upgrade of the existing
style?
* The height and condition of the sub floor.
* Rustic (wide planks, distressed finish), Traditional (dark wood,
glossy
finish) or Modern (light wood, matte finish)?
* Use (and users) of the room (large dogs, small children, heavy
traffic, moisture, humidity or spills (such as in a kitchen, entry or
bathroom)
* Price - the width, length, grade, availability, and labor costs for
particular floors will affect the price of the job.
